Dr. Junaid Mohammed, a former member of the House of Representatives in the Second Republic and also a social critic, has died.
Muhammed, aged 73, died last night as a result of health complications at the Kwanar Dawaki Isolation Centre in Kano State.
He was said to have been screened with COVID-19 but found to be negative, according to a family source.

Immediately the news of his demise broke out last night our reporter visited his Kano home to confirm it. His step-son, Mr. Sule Idris, confirmed to him that “Yes, Baba is dead and his remains will be brought back for burial in Islamic rites at his residence at Lamido Crescent in Kano on this morning (Friday)”
The late Statesman was a Soviet Union trained neurosurgeon before joining politics and under the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP).
He was one of the party founders and a member of the House of Representatives in the Second Republic as well.
Mohammed was known to many administrations in the country as a prominent critic and will be remembered for his stance on issues of national interest.
