Dr Nosiru Onibon and MOCPED: A Match Made In Heaven
When Dr Nosiru Olajide Onibon was appointed as the acting Provost of Michael Otedola College of Primary Education (MOCPED), Noforija, Epe, following the death of its former Provost, Professor Olurotimi Akeusola, little did anyone envisage the turnaround he would bring to the college within such a short period of his astute leadership.
Since his appointment in December 2017, Dr Nosiru has not looked back on his mandate – charting a new course for the college. Approaching the task with his vast experience in education, he has been able to turn around the fortunes of MOCPED, repositioning it as a school of choice for those seeking a career path in primary education in the state.

On infrastructure, through his visionary leadership, work is ongoing on the abandoned 460-seater lecture hall in the college. Also, offices, classrooms are being revamped to turn those lecture rooms into smart ones, equipped with smart board, multimedia facilities and the internet.
Dr Nosiru has also made staff – academic and non-academic – development a top priority through conferences and workshops locally and internationally, sponsored by the Tertiary Education Trust Fund, TETFUND. The school has also taken delivery of 500 new edition books on different subject matters with about 12 research works going on with TETFUND intervention running into millions of Naira.
His numerous interventions have led to an increased number of students admitted yearly, enrolling 500 students from its previous year of 400 intakes. Students welfare is another vital area the Associate Professor has scored a high point. The school supports the various programmes of the Students Union Body with adequate funding to curb any unrest that might arise from the students.

To the casual observer, Dr Nosiru might have achieved a lot within a short time, but to the perennial achiever that Dr Nosiru is, all that he has accomplished is just a drop in the ocean. Part of his goal is to be a Professor, but for now, he remains committed to achieving the primary objective of the College, which is to produce quality teachers that will impact the education sector at all levels.
