The Commissioner of Commerce and industry, Yunusa Olofu, made this known in a message to open a two-day workshop organized by the state Directorate of Cooperative in Lokoja.
Yunusa Olofu, represented by the permanent secretary, Alhaji Salifu Ameh Ojonugwa, said a situation whereby some cooperative societies operate illegally would not be condoned.
According to him, strategies are already being mapped out to carry out the exercise since cooperative laws must be obeyed for a better society.
The Commissioner noted that the workshop was to educate the members and officials on the need to improve the efficiency of all cooperative societies.
In his remarks, the Director of Cooperatives, Alhaji Tenimu Momoh, explained that the workshop was an annual event aimed at overcoming the challenges faced by cooperative societies.
