A heir apparent to the throne of Mbiri kingdom, Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, Prince Evans Alekwe, who died of food poisoning, has been crowned king shortly after his death.
Amid a sketchy detail surrounding the tragedy, the prince reportedly died on Sunday, September 22, after eating food laced with poisoning.
Anger is said to have enveloped the agrarian community following the tragic and untimely demise of the teenager.

It was gathered that members of the community took the remains of the prince to the palace, laid it on the royal stool and crowned him king.
Many people in the community are pointing fingers to some elements who were bent on eliminating the heir to the throne so as to achieve their selfish aim.
The death of the prince was seen in the community as an abomination since his father is still alive and this is the reason some members of the community went ahead to crown him king, indicating that he had succeeded his father even as he lay lifeless.
