The management of Desert Herald which is owned by Mamu, while reacting to DSS’s statement, said the military accoutrements belong to Mamu’s nephew.
According to the management, Mamu’s nephew is an officer of the Nigerian Navy, who was sent to school by Mamu before he joined the navy.
The family accused the secret police of levelling allegations against Manu to damage his name.
The Special Operations and Productions Manager of the newspaper, Ibrahim Mada condemned the DSS for not giving detailed reasons why Mamu was arrested.
Mada further stated that the hard currency found in Mamu’s house if converted into Naira is less than N1.5 million.
He wondered why DSS is claiming to have discovered a huge haul of hard currency in his house.
Mada also asked if it is a crime for someone to keep hard currencies in his house and have family members in the Nigerian Army.
