EKO HOT BLOG reports that the blaze, which started around 2:20 a.m., severely damaged one of the two-bedroom flats in Block 21, a three-story building with 16 flats.

Preliminary investigations by the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) revealed that the fire was caused by an electrical surge in the children’s room.

LASEMA’s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyitolu, reported that the fire completely destroyed the children’s bedroom and caused property losses amounting to millions of naira.
