He called on them to sustain the spirit of harmony, tolerance, sacrifice, and understanding while discharging their responsibilities in furtherance of the Nigerian project.
Ahmed also urged corps members to uphold the Scheme’s core values of patriotism, integrity, efficiency, commitment and teamwork throughout their service year and beyond. He encouraged them to continually pray for the unity and progress of Nigeria.
As the NYSC marks its 50th anniversary in the coming weeks, Ahmed called on members to use this period of Easter to appreciate God for the numerous successes of the Scheme in the last five decades and pray for a secure and fruitful future for the Scheme.
However, if corps members are permitted to travel for the celebration, the Director General advised that they should avoid travelling at night to avoid endangering themselves. If their journey gets late into the night, they should break their journey into two and pass the night in any NYSC formation or nearby military barrack.
