Candidate of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NPP), Tracy Ebun and the candidate of All Peoples Party (APP), Osalumese Areloegbe, have revealed their intentions to challenge the outcome of the just-concluded Edo State governorship election.
They said they were already consulting their political parties before deciding whether or not to approach the Election Petition Tribunal.
Agol said, “We have to consult with the national body before we take any decision concerning the Edo election.
“We are also looking at all that took place during the election after which we will make our findings public and decide the next step to take.”
When asked if she considered the election free and fair, she replied, “It will be revealed as soon as we meet with the national body.”
Meanwhile, Areloegbe said, “I would have to hold a meeting with the party before knowing whether we will go to the tribunal or not.
“People were induced with money. Some of my votes were also nullified while some were not counted.”
In a related development, the candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Felix Obayagbon, said, “As far as I am also concerned, the election was free, fair and credible. If elections will continue like this in Nigeria, it means that we are moving forward in our democracy.”
Expressing his concerns about the election, the candidate of the Labour Party, Isiah Osifo described the election as “free and fair” adding that, “Anyone that is saying that the election was not free and fair is not patriotic.”
