EKO HOT BLOG reports that Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has announced the dissolution of the State Executive Council, effective immediately. The Governor expressed his appreciation for the services rendered by the members of the council to the people and government of the state.
In a statement released by the Special Adviser on Media Projects, Crusoe Osagie, the Governor stated that the dissolution of the council took place during the Weekly Executive Council meeting on Wednesday.

He also revealed that the positions of all Special Assistants (SAs) and Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) have been terminated with immediate effect.
The dissolution of the council comes as a surprise to many, as the Governor had only recently reconstituted the council in August 2022.
The State Executive Council is the highest decision-making body in the state, responsible for the formulation and implementation of policies and programs to advance the state’s development agenda.
No official reason has been given for the dissolution of the council, and there is no information yet on when a new council will be appointed. However, some political analysts suggest that the move may be part of the Governor’s efforts to reposition his administration ahead of the 2024 gubernatorial elections.
