Edo Head Of Service Kidnapped, Driver Killed

Anthony Okungbowa, Edo state head of service (HoS), on Saturday was kidnapped by gunmen.

Eko Hot Blog gathered that Okungbowa was abducted on Saturday evening on  Oza Road, in Orhionmwon local government area of the state.

NAN reports that the gunmen killed Okungbowa driver, whose whose identity couldn’t be ascertained, before abducting him.

A senior civil servant, who does not want his name mentioned, reportedly said Okungbowa abduction took place after he attended a local function in Oza.

“He was kidnapped on his way back to Benin City after attending the event. His driver was killed in the process,” the source said.

The state of security in the country in the past couple of months has taken turn for the worse.

Amid several cult-related killings, an assistant commissioner of police and two inspectors were shot in Benin, the state capital, during an exchange of gunfire with alleged cultists.
