Edo State Police Command has promised to support and protect citizens during the planned protests if conducted peacefully, with a stern warning to potential troublemakers.

The announcement was made by the State Commissioner of Police, CP Funsho Adegboye, during a press briefing on Wednesday evening.

He emphasized the right of citizens to protest, stating, “Police will protect and support them with sachet water and sweets. We have agreed that they will only occupy Kings Square, which is the venue of the protest.”
He also issued a stern warning to potential troublemakers, making it clear that any attempts to disrupt the peaceful demonstration would be met with decisive action.
Meanwhile, the Lagos State Police Command has issued guidelines and warnings regarding the planned nationwide protest against hunger and hardship set to commence on Thursday, 1st August, 2024.

The Police Command, in a statement on Wednesday, said it has put in place necessary measures to ensure the safety of lives and property, free flow of traffic and a peaceful environment during the protest in Lagos.
