She stated that the feat attained by the awardees can be surpassed by other teachers and students if they work hard, remain committed, pursue excellence and dare to be extraordinary in their academics.

According to her, this year’s award was instituted to recognise teachers who continued to work hard and diligently despite the challenges of the pandemic and emerging global crisis as it affects teaching and learning.

While asserting that the teachers rose up to the task of teaching the students despite the pandemic plaguing the entire world, Adekanye affirmed that the awardees, comprising of teaching, non-teaching staff and students, were all being recognised based on excellent performances at their various duty posts.

She appreciated the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu for prioritising the welfare of teachers, as well as paying special attention to the education sector.

“Public recognition of hard work and accomplishments goes a long way in motivating teachers to keep up the hard work. By complimenting them in front of their peers, administrators help teachers gain a feeling of appreciation and gratitude. Certificates or awards may be given for classroom accomplishments or for simply going the extra mile. Some teachers’ students may excel on a standardized test, while another teacher habitually volunteers for recess duty. Motivating both teachers is possible through recognition” She added.
