Education District IV of Lagos State has solidified its status as a leader in academic and extracurricular excellence, securing top positions in national and international competitions.
Ekohotblog gathers that unnder the dynamic leadership of Mr. Segun Osinaike, the district continues to set new standards in science, technology, and sports.
Reflecting on the district’s success, Mr. Olanrewaju L.O., Desk Officer for Environment and STEM, stated,
“Our commitment to innovative learning and educational excellence has fueled these remarkable achievements. We are proud to see our students excel on global platforms.”
One of the most notable accomplishments comes from Wesley Girls’ Senior Secondary School, which presented the Bithermal Still Water Project and Floodwise Project at the 2023 and 2024 Stockholm Water Prize Competitions.
The school won at the state and national levels, representing Nigeria internationally in Sweden for two consecutive years.
Mr. Akanbi Job, Desk Officer for Robotics, STEM, and JET’s Programs, praised the students, saying, “Wesley Girls’ success showcases the creativity and hard work of our students and teachers. Competing internationally demonstrates the district’s leadership in STEM education.”
In another historic achievement, New Era Girls Junior Secondary School made its mark at the World Robots Olympiad (WRO) themed Earth Allies, earning the highest score ever recorded in Lagos State with 120 points.
Alongside Lagos City Senior College, the school also secured top positions at the national level, earning the opportunity to represent Lagos State at the 2024 WRO in Turkiye.
Further showcasing its all-round excellence, Education District IV claimed 1st place in the Under-15 category at the 2024/2025 Lagos State School Sports Festival, highlighting its dominance not only in academics but also in athletics.
Adding to the list of accolades, Dr. (Mrs.) Peace Sule from Akoka Junior High School received the 2024 National Presidential Award for her exceptional contributions to education, reinforcing the district’s culture of excellence.
Gbaja Girls Senior High School also emerged 1st in the Brainstar Courtville STEM Quiz Competition, while Gbaja Girls Junior Secondary School and Lagos City Senior College excelled at the 2024 Exhibition of Instructional Materials during the Lagos State Festival of Instructional Materials (LASFIM).
Commending the collective efforts, Mrs. Rose, Desk Officer for Guidance and Counselling, remarked, “These outstanding results are a reflection of effective leadership, strategic planning, and the dedication of our educators. Education District IV is setting new standards of excellence.”
