Education Minister Tasks FUMMSA Leadership To Enroll First Students By September

The Honourable Minister of Education has directed the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor and Principal Officers of the Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta (FUMMSA), to ensure the institution admits its first students by September.
Speaking at the inauguration of Principal Officers for NABTEB, UBEC, and FUMMSA, the Minister emphasized the urgency of collaboration with key regulatory bodies, including JAMB and NUC, to facilitate a seamless admissions process.

He urged the Vice-Chancellor to leverage their expertise in laying the University’s foundation and ensuring essential infrastructure is in place.
He further stressed the importance of aligning FUMMSA’s programs with national and global healthcare needs, particularly in nursing, medicine, pharmacy, and dentistry.
Other newly appointed Officials include Dr. Mohammed Aminu, Registrar, NABTEB; Tunde Ajibulu, Deputy Executive Secretary (Service), UBEC; and Olajuwon Akinyebi, Deputy Executive Secretary (Technical), UBEC.
The Minister reiterated the government’s commitment to expanding access to quality education and strengthening Nigeria’s healthcare workforce.
He also highlighted ongoing reforms in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and the integration of new appointees into the restructuring of Nigeria’s vocational education framework.
Praising President Bola Tinubu’s leadership, the Minister noted his administration’s dedication to fostering an enabling environment for public service.
On behalf of the new appointees, FUMMSA Vice-Chancellor Professor Fatiu Arogundade expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and pledged to uphold integrity, transparency, and excellence.
