EKO HOT BLOG reports that the arrests occurred on Thursday, following a briefing session with the officials. Sources indicate that these developments have severely impacted government operations in the state.
“With the arrest, government activities have been halted, as the state is unable to pay emoluments due to civil servants, pensions, and other public servants, throwing the state into chaos. Other statutory payments, such as security bills and other obligations, are also affected,” one source revealed.
It is understood that the EFCC intends to detain the arrested officials until November 12, coinciding with the end of the tenure of outgoing Governor Godwin Obaseki.
In related news, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has advised Edo State’s incoming governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, to refrain from probing the administration of outgoing Governor Godwin Obaseki. Ganduje offered this advice during Okpebholo’s visit to the APC National Working Committee (NWC) on Thursday.
