Although the officials declined interviews from journalists, the leader of the team had a brief chat with the leadership of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in the unit, urging them to call the commission’s helpline if they needed any assistance.
The leader also had a brief chat with Obi, who was coming back from a village tour.
After their brief visit, the team left the polling unit, promising to come back soon. Obi was still being expected at his Amatutu ward two, polling unit 019, where he planned to cast his vote.
It is unclear why the EFCC officials visited Obi’s polling unit, but their presence raised concerns among voters about the credibility of the electoral process. However, no official statement has been made regarding the visit.
