EFCC To Deploy 100 Armed Operatives To The North
  • Ahead of the supplementary elections, the EFCC has deployed 100 armed operatives to Northern states such as Kano, Katsina and Jigawa.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) has deployed 100 armed operatives to Kano, Katsina, and Jigawa states in a bid to combat vote buying during the supplementary elections on Saturday.

The EFCC’s Kano Zonal Commander, Mr Farouk Dogondaji, announced that 20 personnel would be monitoring the conduct of state assembly elections in Kafur and Kankara in Katsina State.

He added that adequate personnel were also deployed to monitor elections in Tudun Wada/Doguwa, Takai federal constituency, and some state assembly elections in Kano State.

The EFCC’s deployment of personnel extends to House of Assembly elections in Katsina and Jigawa states, with the aim of preventing vote buying.

Speaking to journalists in Kano, Dogondaji stated that the commission had also deployed officers to the Malam Aminu Kano International airport and the Kano metropolis to monitor the exercise. He said the EFCC would be visible at all polling units in Kano, Katsina, and Jigawa, and carefully monitor the entire exercise during and after the elections.

Dogondaji emphasized that the commission’s presence was to add value to the electoral process by preventing vote buying and the alteration of results at collation centers. He explained that the EFCC had also adopted measures to make it difficult for any person or group to tamper with election results.

He called on personnel to be thorough and professional in carrying out their national assignment, adding that their presence was part of the commission’s commitment to ensuring credible and transparent elections in the zone.

Furthermore, the commander advised parents not to allow their children to be used as political thugs. He warned that anyone found wanting would be arrested and prosecuted. He assured the public that the EFCC, in collaboration with state security agencies, was working towards providing a peaceful atmosphere for eligible voters to elect their leaders.

The deployment of 100 armed operatives by the EFCC to Kano, Katsina, and Jigawa states underscores the commission’s commitment to ensuring credible and transparent elections in the zone.
