Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, represented by Deputy Governor Dr. Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat, addressed potential recruits at the Departure Ceremony for the 88th RRI Nigerian Army Recruit Intake from Lagos State.
Eko Hot Blog reports that Hamzat emphasized the importance of perseverance and effort in achieving success, encouraging the recruits to maintain Lagosians’ reputation for excellence.

The purpose of the ceremony, Hamzat explained, was to prepare the recruits for their training at the Nigerian Depot in Zaria. He commended their dedication and urged them to represent the state well, as not all recruits who depart for training will return successful.
In order to motivate the potential recruits, Hamzat highlighted the value of the program in helping them learn from experienced military personnel who have completed similar training and attained great heights in their careers.
He further expressed confidence in the recruits’ ability to succeed and bring honor to Lagos State.
Encouraging the parents Hamzat said , ‘as parents, we all want the best for our children and in order to get the best for our children, we must prepare them for their future’. So this is the preparation.
He urged parents to appreciate the efforts of the officers responsible for training their children to become disciplined and valiant soldiers.
The rigorous instruction provided is essential for developing the character required to serve as gallant members of the armed forces.
The Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin expressed gratitude to Governor Sanwo-Olu and Deputy Governor Hamzat for their support of the potential recruits, including providing stipends and accommodation throughout their training.
She further commended the Lagos State Government for treating the recruits as family and highlighted the valuable contributions of Hon. AbdulWasiu Bawa-Allah and Senator Musiliu Obanikoro.
Oba Shakirudeen Adeshina Kuti, Elewu of Ewu Land, acknowledged the dedication of the Secretary to the State Government, Barr. Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, in making the event a success. He also encouraged her to continue advocating for Lagosians to be enlisted into the Nigerian Customs Service, Police Force, Navy, and Air Force.
Oba Onigbongbo, Oba Adeyemi Oluwasegun Ajasa, praised the recruits for their forward-thinking approach and emphasized the importance of representing Lagos State with pride.
He bestowed blessings upon them, wishing for their success and safe return from Zaria.

Olanrewaju Ajidagba, one of the potential recruits, thanked the Lagos State Government for their support and welfare provisions, as well as the presence of Deputy Governor Hamzat at the occasion.
He also expressed gratitude to Brigadier General Olawale Matthew Oyekola for his guidance and leadership throughout their training.
The 48th Commander of 9 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Olawale Matthew Oyekola said the training Commences 5th December 2024 and ran through 19th December 2024 with 427 Candidate shortlisted and only 314 reported for screening with 144 candidate selected to represent Lagos state who will depart to the Nigeria Depot Zaria.
