Egbon President: Rotary Club of Gbagada Loses Rotarian Oluwakemi Williams
The death has been announced of Rotarian Oluwakemi Williams, also known as Sister K or Egbon President.
She passed away on October 16, 2024, just a week shy of her 59th birthday, surrounded by her loving family at Ofalia House, Edenderry, EKO HOT BLOG reports.
Her loss has created a significant vacuum in her family and community, with family members describing her demise as shocking and a tremendous loss.
Rotarian Olubunmi Oguntade in her heartfelt tribute, described Oluwakemi as a virtuous woman who dedicated her life to the advancement of humanity’s cause.
“Her commitment to helping others, both within the Rotary Club and beyond, was a testament to her deep compassion and selflessness.
“Her departure leaves a profound silence in our hearts. Oluwakemi was not just a sister; she was our guiding light, and her unwavering spirit will forever inspire us.”
Yeye Bukky Williams described Oluwakemi’s passing as both shocking and a significant loss to the family.
“Oluwakemi’s kindness and selflessness were boundless. Losing her is a tremendous loss for our family, and we will carry her legacy of love and compassion with us always,” she said.
She emphasized that Oluwakemi was a virtuous woman who dedicated her life to advancing the cause of humanity.
Her words echoed her values: “Her kindness, selflessness, and unwavering commitment to helping others defined her.”
“Through her involvement in the Rotary Club, she consistently made a difference in the lives of the underprivileged, embodying the very essence of service to humanity.”
“Oluwakemi was indeed a pillar of support,” she concluded.
Born into the family of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Abiodun Williams, she was the sixth of seven children raised in a modest Christian home that emphasized compassion and selflessness.
After completing her secondary education at Government College, Ikorodu, she pursued a career in nursing, graduating from the Lagos State School of Midwifery in 1985.
Throughout her distinguished nursing career, Oluwakemi specialized in caring for individuals with intellectual disabilities and was actively involved in various community initiatives.
Her commitment to helping others was exemplified by her role in the Rotary Club of Gbagada, affirming her genuine desire to make a difference in the lives of the underprivileged in society.
She is survived by her husband, Yinka Fatoba, her sisters, and her four children: Wale, Shola, Dolapo, and Morayo, along with grandchildren who will forever cherish her memory and legacy.
Her unwavering dedication to the advancement of humanity and her kindness will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
According to the family, Oluwakemi will repose at Larkin’s Funeral Home, Edenderry (R45 VK24) on Tuesday, October 29, from 5 PM to 7 PM for a Service of Song.
Her funeral service will take place on Wednesday, October 30, at 11:00 AM at St. Mary’s Church, Edenderry, followed by cremation at Newlands Cross at approximately 2:30 PM.
