The first Premier social club in Epe Division, Epe Club, on Monday 19th July, 2021 urged sons and daughters from the ancient town to shun all acts of violence to deepen the peaceful coexistence of diverse people residing in the community.
The call was made at the T-Junction Club House during the commissioning and Handing-Over Program of Traffic booths to security and safety agents of the Government.
Members of the Epe Club present at the event include Otunba Adisa Osiefa, Prince Badejo, Akogun Ademola Lawal and High Chief Akingbade. Also at the gathering are CNI Convener, Idris Olukoya and representatives of Security Agencies: RC Adekolu Samson (FRSC), ASP Tiamiyu Taiwo (Nigerian Polic Force, Akodo), Superintendent Adeniyi Ibrahim (LASTMA) and Usman Hassan Gbolahan (LNSA).
Speaking in an interview with Eko Hot Blog, the President of the Club, Engineer AbdulRasheed Shabi reiterated the need to ensure peace in the Division, stating that the complex nature of security is a collaborative responsibility of both the citizens of the town and security agents.
“It is our responsibility community leaders and traditional rulers to work security operatives to fish out people of evil characters. We want a violence-free Ileya festival in Epe and I am using this opportunity to say happy Sallah to every member of Epe Club and sons and daughters of Epe, the royal fathers in the Epe Division. We should all ensure we have a Sallah free of violence. Lastly, after killing your rams and cows, don’t throw the wastes into the public drainage. It will definitely block the drains and there will be a flood,” he avered.
Engineer Shabi, who lauded the security agents for their efforts in striving to keep the peace, stated that their acts of bravery and dedication prompted the Club to donate the Traffic Booths to ease the flow of traffic come rain come shine. He promised to deliver more Traffic Booths after the festive period in conjunction with the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr Kadiri Obafemi Hamzat and the Concerned Nation-builders Initiative (CNI).
On the Sallah festivities, the former Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) boss revealed further that he was aware that the Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) will distribute garbage bags. He, therefore, appealed to residents to ensure that wastes generated during the festivities are properly bagged for assigned PSP and LAWMA officers to pick up.
Earlier, the Federal Road Safety Corps representative, RC Adekolu Samson enlightened the gathering on the causes of road crashes which includes, taking alcohol and drugs. He noted that the body of any driver must perform optimally as intoxication from substance use could result in fatal accidents.
Speaking further, he revealed that driving with expired tyres, overinflation of tyres and overloading has led many to their early graves and therefore advised that expiry dates of tyres must be constantly monitored.

He, therefore, advised that drivers should maintain lesser speed during the rainy season as the road tends to be slippery in such weather conditions. He rounded up his lecture by advising drivers to desist from wrongful overtaking, especially on narrow bridges or bends.
The representatives of the Police, Lagos Neighborhood Security Agency (LNSA) and Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) appreciated the Club for the kind gesture. They noted that the Traffic Booth would enhance their performance, they promised to put the Traffic Booths into use at strategic junctions and also continue to discharge their duties with unprecedented dedication and commitment.
