The News Agency of Nigeria, (NAN) reports that the Federal Government had declared Thursday, July 30 and Friday, July 31 as public holidays to mark the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

Okoronkwo said the lesson of the celebration was Prophet Ibrahim’s willingness to fulfill Allah’s command to sacrifice his son Ismael, which should be emulated by all and sundry

He said: “On behalf of the National Executive of IPMAN and its Board of Trustees, I want to felicitate with our Muslim brothers and sisters as they mark the Eid-el-Kabir.

“I urge them to continue to pray for the unity and peaceful coexistence of our beloved nation during this critical moment.

“The celebration reinforces the spirit of sacrifice, tolerance and total submission to the will of Allah among others and Nigerian leaders and citizens should learn to follow these virtues.”

Okoronkwo said this had become imperative as the world continued to battle the COVID-19 pandemic which had led to economic crisis and uncertainties.

“As we celebrate today, it is important that we continue to adhere to the safety protocols put in place to curb the spread of Coronavirus and understand that this is part of the sacrifices required from us.

“We should also pray fervently for our nation and our leaders so that Nigeria will emerge from this situation a better country that belongs to all of us,”he said.
