Ejirin Celebrates Oba Rafiu Babatunde Balogun’s 20th Coronation Anniversary and 80th Birthday

It was jubilation and celebration galore in the ancient town of Enjirin as His Royal Majesty, Oba Rafiu Babatunde Balogun Adetoyese, Ejalonibu II. Marked two significant milestones in his life

Ekohotblog reports that the monarch celebrated 20 years of his reign as well as his 80th birthday, an event that brought together dignitaries, traditional rulers, and well-wishers from across Nigeria, making it an unforgettable day for the people of Ejirin.

Among the notable guests at the celebration was the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Kadri Hamzat, who praised Oba Balogun’s leadership and his dedication to the development of Ejirin. In his address, Dr. Hamzat highlighted the historical significance of Ejirin, noting the town’s contributions to the state’s economic development and its place in Nigeria’s history as the site of the nation’s first post office.

He also encouraged the people of Ejirin to join efforts in preserving and enhancing their heritage.

“Ejirin is a key part of Lagos’ history, and the wisdom of Kabiyesi, Oba Balogun, continues to guide this great town.

Let us all come together to ensure the restoration of Ejirin’s former glory, and I call on every son and daughter of Ejirin to contribute their quota towards the upliftment of this community,” Dr. Hamzat said.

In an exclusive interview, with EkoHotBlog, Oba (Engr.) Ganiu Aderibigbe, the Alayandelu of Odo Ayandelu Kingdom, spoke passionately about the future of Ejirin.

He appealed to the indigenes of Ejirin who have left the town to return and invest and contribute to the community’s progress.

“Ejirin’s greatness lies in the hands of its people. It’s time for all of us to come together, support the development of our town, and contribute to its growth. We must rise and work in unity,” Oba Aderibigbe stated.

Echoing similar sentiments, Oba Abiola Kosoko, the Oloja of Lagos-elect, celebrated Ejirin’s rich history and potential for further development.

“Ejirin has witnessed a lot of growth over the years, and it is poised for even greater things. We are all here today to celebrate the history, leadership, and legacy of Kabiyesi, but we must also look forward and work toward creating an even brighter future for our community,” he said.

The event was marked with traditional prayers and blessings for the monarch, as Oba Babatunde Ogunlaja, the paramount ruler of Odo-Noforija Kingdom, offered heartfelt prayers for Oba Rafiu Babatunde Balogun and the entire Ejirin community.

“May the reign of Kabiyesi continue to bring peace, prosperity, and growth to Ejirin and its people,” Oba Ogunlaja prayed.

In a deeply emotional speech, Oba Rafiu Babatunde Balogun thanked everyone who had come to celebrate the two milestones with him.

He expressed deep gratitude for the continued support of the people of Ejirin and the many dignitaries who had honored the occasion.

“I am overwhelmed by your love and support. I am blessed to have served as your king for 20 years, and I promise to continue working towards the progress and prosperity of Ejirin. May we all continue to work in unity for the good of our beloved town,” he said.
