NERC Forces Leadership Shakeup at Utility
Eko Hot Blog reports that Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) sacked Tinuade Sanda as managing director. The parent firm, WPG, terminated her services on April 17, 2024.
Chairman Charles Momoh declared, “We no longer require your services.” WPG paid Sanda three months’ salary per contract termination terms.

However, academic fraud marred her dismissal, with Sanda falsifying degrees. Investigations exposed her claimed Harvard and Edinburgh degrees as untrue.
Further probing revealed her purported PhD came from a non-existent Benin university. The “institution” lacked accreditation and any online footprint.
This prompted NERC to instruct EKEDC to suspend all WPG seconded staff. The move aimed to ensure direct utility employment and accountability.
Amid corruption claims, the scandal forced urgent reforms. NERC stressed transparency and proper hiring to prevent repeat incidents.
