EKEDC Gives Conditions For Reconnection Of Lekki Residents Electricity
Eko Electricity Distribution Company, (EKEDC), Lekki branch, has pledged to restore power back to neighborhoods where power was disconnected if the residents agree to pay the outstanding debt of April.
After the submission of letters of complaint by each of the affected communities to the headquarters, Marina, Lagos, the Lekki coordinator, Engineer Balogun, sent his boys yesterday, Monday 18 of May, to the affected areas for reconciliation.
One of the sent boys said while addressing the people of Barbeach market in Lekki, that the outstanding debts of March and April have been subsidized to payment of April debts.
Residents of the community who were all happy for the new development paid off the April debts and power was restored immediately after mutual understanding.
Some other affected areas within Victoria Island and Lekki went against the new idea as they felt that the money was not paid intentionally, rather they held up the money as the speaker of the House of Representative, Hon. Gbajabiamila promised to talk to EKEDC not to collect money from Nigerians for the month of March and April when the stay-at-home order was still on the ground.

The response of EKEDC to communities that refuse to comply with the new initiative was that ‘ no payment of March, no light’.
“You can use your money on petrol to fuel your generator for a month and see the difference,” EKEDC staff said.
