EKO HOT BLOG reports that over 24 hours after his abduction, kidnappers of a businessman and traditional chief, Emmanuel Obafemi, who was abducted on his farm at Ijan Ekiti in the Gbonyin Local Government area of Ekiti State on Thursday evening, have yet to contact the family.
Wife of the kidnapped Ekiti chief, Banke Obafemi, said the family was worried, noting that “till now, nobody has contacted the family, we don’t know his whereabouts.”
The wife had explained that the kidnap occurred around 5.42pm on Thursday, as gunmen numbering about 10 invaded her husband’s farm opposite, Ayo Daramola Secondary School in Ijan Ekiti.

The woman said the traditional chief was working on his farm when the gunmen struck and whisked him away to an unknown destination.
She added, “They (kidnappers) did not come with any vehicle or motorcycle. They shot repeatedly into the air before whisking him away.”
The police and Amotekun corps said their operatives had been deployed in the bush.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Sunday Abutu, said, “We are still on the trail of the kidnappers. The teams of Rapid Response Squad and Joint Task Force have been deployed to track the suspects and rescue the victim.”
