EKO HOT BLOG reports the defendant, whose residential address was not disclosed, is facing a charge of murder.
According to the prosecutor, Inspector Elijah Adejare, the incident occurred on December 15 in Iropora-Ekiti, located in the Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area of Ekiti State.

Inspector Adejare stated that the defendant allegedly killed his 92-year-old mother, Comfort Oni, during an altercation. The deceased had reportedly confronted the defendant over an attempt to steal, leading to a physical struggle.
During the altercation, the defendant allegedly pushed the victim, causing her to fall and sustain fatal injuries.
The offence is said to violate Section 234 of the Ekiti State Criminal Law, 2021.
The prosecutor requested that the defendant be remanded in custody pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
Chief Magistrate Kehinde Awosika ruled that the defendant be held at a correctional facility while awaiting the DPP’s legal advice. The court did not take the defendant’s plea and adjourned the case to January 30, 2025, for mention.
