Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has approved N8.17 billion for road construction projects across the state.
The projects aim to boost economic activities, improve infrastructure, and ease residents’ hardships.
The Commissioner for Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun, told pressmen that the road projects were approved during the weekly Executive Council meeting.
One of the projects, the construction of the Bovas Filling Station-Spotless Hotel Road in Ado Ekiti, will cost N1.4 billion and is expected to be completed in 10 months.
The contract was awarded to Banky Pacesetter Nigeria Limited, with 60% of the payment to be made upfront upon securing a guarantee.
Additionally, over N5 billion was allocated for extending and upgrading the Hospitals Management Board/Doctor’s Quarters Road to Apata Natha Junction.
This project, originally awarded for N413 million, was reviewed to N778 million due to rising costs. It’s extension will connect Basiri and Adebayo areas, easing traffic and improving access for residents.
The work is also expected to take 10 months and will include clearing, drainage, and road paving.
