Ekiti: Gunmen Kill Councillor, Abduct Commissioner For Agriculture

The Ekiti State Commissioner for Agriculture, Folorunso Olabode has been kidnapped by some gunmen and a councillor and leader in Ilejemeje Local Government Area of the state, Olatunji Omotosho (pictured above), who was with him, was shot dead on the spot.

The attack reportedly occurred along Isan-Iludun road at about 7:30pm on Sunday April 26.

Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Amba Asuquo confirmed the incident and he said a team of policemen have been deployed and are on the trail of the abductors.

Asuquo said;

“The three persons were in the commissioner’s car when they were attacked. One person died on the spot and the other two were kidnapped.

“We had visited the scene to get on the spot information that can help us and our men are on already on ground combing the expansive forest to fish out the evil men and also recover the abductees.”

Ekiti state Commissioner for Information, Muyiwa Olumilua in his statement on Sunday, said only one person was shot in the commissioner’s entourage.

Olumilua said;

“Governor Fayemi has mandated the security agencies in the state to ensure their prompt and safe release, while assuring residents that adequate measures are ongoing to maintain the peace and security of the State.”

He also assurred residents of the state that those behind the attack will be brought to justice.
