“The gall bladder, pancreas, spleen (100mm), and bowel loops appear normal. There were mild to moderate ascites with bilateral pleural effusion. The uterus was not demonstrated in keeping the history of hysterectomy. The urinary bladder is normal in content and wall thickness.”
The hospital, however, gave an estimate of N20m as the cost of the kidney transplant.
Another letter by the Luth Initiative Limited regarding Ayeni’s case, partly read, “The above-named patient (Ayeni) RVD was admitted on January 27, 2023, and was being managed for acute exacerbation of CKD.”
In a letter Ayeni’s family wrote to solicit support on her behalf, they said she had been advised by her doctor to go for a kidney transplant, adding that the recent tests that were carried out indicated that her two kidneys were no longer functioning as normal.
“A kidney transplant as we all know is expensive and she is also not under any medical insurance. Therefore, the responsibility for the expenses has fallen on her family.
“We are asking all friends and family to contribute anything to help in covering the cost of this new treatment. According to her doctor, we need N20m. Anything you can give would be a real blessing.
