The Eko Club Austin, a member chapter of Eko Club International, an apex organisation for Lagosians in the diaspora, has concluded all arrangements towards successfully hosting the Eko Club International quarterly meeting slated for March 25th and 26th 2022.
The president of the organisation, Ms Christy Okolie, made this revelation during a telephone interview with the correspondent of EKOHOTBLOG.
“We are prepared to welcome all our members from different parts of the world as they will be converging in Austin, Texas, for the 1st quarterly meeting of 2022. The best of Texas’ hospitality awaits them”, Ms Okolie averred.
“Eko Club Austin is a member chapter of Eko Club International. We are committed to the ideals and the vision of the umbrella organisation in addressing the needs of the underprivileged in our society,” she concluded.
As part of the commitment Eko Club Austin to uphold the ideals and values of the parent body, the quarterly meeting is lined up with a medley of activities starting with the arrival of members and a reception at the hotel on Friday, 25th March.
The planned activities continue on Saturday, March 26th, with a Zumba dance and an anaerobic exercise under the supervision of a fitness expert, organised to keep members in shape ahead of the rigour and the physical demand of the 8-hour meeting.
The long-standing tradition, the organisation’s signature humanitarian gesture of reaching out to the underprivileged in the society, follows with a visit to the Alief School District.

Eko Club International, in collaboration with Eko Club Austin, will donate an unspecified amount to the school, as one of the projects adopted by the Austin chapter.
One of the highlights of the 2-day epochal event is the Ankara Night, a creative fundraising strategy which doubles as a reunion, making room for fraternization and bonding among Lagosians. It is also a time of appreciation to God for the gift of life.
The chairman of the planning committee, Alex Ajayi Bembe, remarked about this phenomenon in an interview with EKOHOTBLOG, “The Ankara Night is a fundraising strategy and a creative approach to appeal to the benevolence of our guests to enable us to give back to the community. We have partnered with various NGOs in Nigeria, and the money raised from the sales of Ankara will be judiciously used to address the needs of the underprivileged in our society, the hallmark of Eko Club International.
Also speaking, Mrs. Yetunde Conrad, president emeritus of Eko Club Austin, reiterated her unwavering allegiance and commitment to Eko Club Austin and the parent body, the ideals, vision and value:
“I am truly blessed to have been associated with Eko Club International, to have been able to spread and propagate the value of altruistic tendencies the organisation is known for. I look forward to the opportunity to fraternise with fellow members and discuss issues germane to the progress of our beloved state”, she concluded.
Meanwhile the president of the parent club – Eko Club International – Mr. Saheed Olushi, in an interview with EKOHOTBLOG, asserted that the organisation has a long-standing tradition of holding a quarterly meeting:.
“It is a veritable platform to religiously discuss issues of significance to our state. This is the first quarterly meeting in 2022, and I, along with the other executives of the club, look forward to seeing our members again in 2022,” the president wrapped up.
