Eko Club International Celebrates Sanwo-Olu At 59

In a statement issued on Tuesday by the Hon. Chief Saheed Adebowale Olushi, President of the Club, Eko Club International praised the governor’s visionary leadership and his commitment to the progress, prosperity, and profound impact on Lagos.
BIOGRAPHY
Born on June 25, 1965, Governor Sanwo-Olu holds a B.Sc in Surveying and an MBA from the University of Lagos. He also studied at the John F. Kennedy School of Government, London Business School, and Lagos Business School.
He began his banking career at Lead Merchant Bank, United Bank for Africa, and First Inland Bank, holding various senior positions. He chaired Baywatch Group Limited and First Class Group Limited and served on the boards of the DFID/DEEPEN Fund and Caverton Offshore Service Group, Plc.
Entering politics in 2003, he served as a Special Adviser, acting commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, and commissioner for Commerce and Industry. He later became commissioner for Establishments, Training, and Pensions and Managing Director/CEO of the Lagos State Development and Property Corporation.
While working on this capacity, Sanwo-Olu’s notable achievements include overseeing BPE privatization projects, establishing the Lagos Security Trust Fund, and directing the LAGBUS System and the Control and Command Centre.
He was elected governor of Lagos State in 2019 on the platform of All Progressive Congress APC after a landslide victory over his closest opponent, Jimi Agbaje of the People’s Democratic Party PDP.
He was re-elected on March 18, 2023, this time defeating Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Labour Party LP and Abdul-Azeez Adeniran of the People’s Democratic Party PDP.
As governor of Lagos State, Governor Sanwo-Olu has been instrumental in advancing infrastructure projects, including the Lagos Blue Line rail and the Red Line lane.
