Eko Club Philadelphia, the Philadelphia branch of apex socio-cultural group for Lagosians in the diaspora, Eko Club International has paid profound tributes to its GrandMatron, Mrs Jennifer Sobanjo-Odukoya, who recently passed away at the age of 62.
Late Sobanjo-Odukoya died in a ghastly autocrash in the US was buried on Saturday, August 28th, 2021 at Ariana’s Grande Woodbridge, NJ USA, amid eulogies and tributes.
Until her death, Sobanjo-Odukoya was a grandmatron of the Philadelphia as well as a devoted member of the umbrella group, Eko Club International, having spent the better part of the last three decades as an accomplished nurse in the United States of America.
Members of the club, who spoke during the funeral rites of the late sexagenarian acclaimed her kindheartedness and forbearing personality, which came naturally to her as a caregiver.

“Wherever I go and whatever I do, your memories will always be in my heart. Thank you for you love, your sacrifices and your amazing selfless spirit. I miss you Mom. Love always,” Jennifer’s son, Stephen, said in a heartfelt tribute.
Another progeny, David, described his mother as a luminous star whose influence will greatly be missed. “Mommy, you are a one of the brightest stars in my life, your arms and words always comforted me in times where I was doubtful. you will be greatly missed here on earth. may heaven accept you with open arms,” he said.
There was also a litany of tributes from friends, acquaintances and colleagues who extolled the late Jennifer as a colossal loss to humanity.
Jennifer Titilayo Sobanjo was born in Lagos, Nigeria to the Late Pa Folorunsho and Late Mrs. Florence Sobanjo. She migrated to United States in 1987 and settled in Brooklyn, New York.
She attended Saint Francis College Brooklyn, New York and Long Island University where she completed and obtained an Associates and Registered Nursing degrees respectively. While she was working as a Registered nurse In New York, she impacted people lives with her wonderful healing hand and empathetic touch. Thereafter, she moved to New Jersey and continued her nursing career and her passion for providing dedicated care to the sick and needy.
She later attended to Kean College in Union, NJ where she obtained her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing. Thereafter, she continued her professional nursing career with Robert Wood Johnson Hospital. After several years in nursing field, she proceeded to establish a restaurant business and became a franchisee with Golden Cross Jamaica restaurant groups of companies. She later established and ran two restaurant stores in Bronze NY and Staten Island.

Jennifer contributed selflessly and immensely to churches of the lord both in USA and Nigeria. She is survived by her children, grandchildren, siblings, a host of nieces and nephews, as well as many extended family and friends.
