El-Rufai explained that when he assumed office, he only had one house in Unguwan Sarki, which is still his only property.
He accused former governors of leaving a gaping hole in the state treasury and warned that if they continued to attack him, he would reveal how they looted the state’s funds and acquired properties in UAE and other cities around the world.
The governor alleged that one of the former governors was involved in a missing N500 million contract to reconstruct the popular Waff Road.
He said nothing was done on the road until he became governor and turned it into a dual carriageway. El-Rufai alleged that the former governors looted the funds and gave the contract to someone who is now deceased.
Furthermore, El-Rufai challenged anyone who had knowledge of his government to collect a 10% commission from contractors. He claimed that the former governors were the ones collecting the commission, and he, being a Quantity Surveyor, knew the quality of work they had done.
