Election Court Hearing Should Allow For Cameras — Joe Keshi Advocates

EKO HOT BLOG reports that retired ambassador, Joe Keshi, has called on the Nigerian Supreme Court to allow cameras into the court for the first time during the upcoming hearing for the Presidential election.

The appeal comes after the Labour Party, LP, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, all vowed to approach the court following the outcome of the February 25 Presidential and National Assembly elections.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress, APC, was declared the winner of the election amid outcry of rigging, suppression and manipulation of votes by politicians across the country.

Keshi, who had served as ambassador to many countries, including Togo, Ethiopia, Belgium, the Netherlands, Namibia, Sierra Leone, and the United States, believes that the Supreme Court should make the process transparent this time around.

“The Supreme Court should do the right thing, and for the Supreme Court to do the right thing, for their own sake,” he said on Arise Television’s The Morning Show.

“For goodness sake, let them allow cameras into the court for the first time so that the Nigerian people could follow the process so that at the end of the day whatever judgment they gave, Nigerians would be satisfied that they followed their process and followed all the evidence.”

Keshi is appealing to the judges to allow cameras into the court for the first time to witness the hearing so that Nigerians can listen to the evidence and be convinced that the judges are credible.

He hopes that allowing cameras into the court will help restore the public’s trust in the judicial system.

The call for transparency in the court comes amidst growing concerns about the credibility of the election and the fairness of the judicial system.

Many Nigerians have expressed dissatisfaction with the election outcome and are calling for a transparent and fair hearing to address the issues.
