Following the declaration, the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, filed a petition at the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal challenging the declaration of Tinubu as the president-elect.

In their petition, Atiku and the PDP are asking the tribunal to nullify the declaration of Tinubu as the winner of the presidential election, which he believed was rigged against him.
