EKO HOT BLOG reports that supporters of the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, are currently protesting on the streets of Asaba, Delta state capital.
The protesters in Asaba believe that Peter Obi won Saturday’s presidential election contrary to the results the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been announcing since Saturday night.
From footage of the protesters in Asaba, the Obi’s supporters who were mostly youths could be heard chanting the name of the Labour Party presidential candidate.
In the viral video posted on social media on Tuesday, a voice could be heard saying: “Obi must be the president of Nigeria whether they like it or not. Our votes now.”
While the pro-obi protest was ongoing in the city of Asaba, Peter Obi was sighted at the Delta international airport for the first time since the conclusion of Saturday’s presidential election.
It is believed that he flew in from Awka, the capital city of Anambra, his state of origin, on Tuesday morning.
As of the time of filling in this report, Obi’s purpose for being in Asaba this morning was not known.
