The Election Petition Tribunal in Adamawa State has upheld the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party PDP, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri in the 2019 gubernatorial election.
The tribunal dismissed the suit filed by the All Progressive Congress APC challenging the victory of Governor Fintiri at the governorship election in the state.
The Tribunal announced the judgment on Friday at the state’s capital Yola.
The presiding justice of the Election Petition Tribunal, Justice Adediran Adebara, noted that the suit was dismissed because its lacked merit. Adding that, the petitioner could not prove his case of irregularities in the March 2019 re-run election.
The Counsel to the respondent, Mr Leonard Zadon, described the judgment as a victory for rule of law.
It could however, be recalled that Fintiri polled 376,552 votes to defeat the incumbent Governor Jibrilla Bindow of the All Progressives Congress who got 336,386 votes at the gubernatorial election
