It was like a mystery to residents of Eti-Osa local government yesterday, Wednesday 22nd, April, when they saw some staff of Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC) going around with megaphone pleading that charged bills should be paid, adding that federal government has not fulfilled its promise to pay citizens’ electricity charged bills for two months as it promised after the lockdown order.
The EKEDC staff who were from the lekki zone pleaded that the generation of power could only be sustainable if the residents pay their bills.

A resident, Mr Taiwo Ajadi, said EKEDC should not blame anybody for not complying with its plea as he felt that the lockdown scenario had affected the income of individuals, especially the wage earners.
“You too should assist the federal government in its Palliative Care to the citizens and you can only render your quota by charging us free of a-two-month charges,” he said.
A grocer who owns a grocery store in that area, Mrs Titilayo Paul, said she would be very happy if she could be free up her bills as she had been the one taking up the responsibility of her family since the advent of coronavirus pandemic.
She said, “My husband is a commercial driver and the stay-at-home order has hindered him from getting money as he depends on daily income.”
