Embrace Peace For Development, Shun Vices; NPC Commandant FCT Tells Youths

Youths have been advised to shun vices capable of portraying them in bad light and use their strength and talent for humanitarian services that will impact the society positively.

The Commandant Nigerian peace Corp in the FCT, Mr. Luckey Egbe made the call at a three-day peacebuilding capacity training for the Officers and men of the Nigerian peace corp, NPC in Abuja.

Mr. Egbe explained that the training was designed to enlightened members of the Peace Corp, on the need to promote peace as well as to create the necessary awareness for relevant nonviolent strategies to conflict management aimed at uniting the country.

The Commandant Nigerian peace corp in the FCT while calling on the youth to actively participate in the decision-making process, stressed the need for relevant stakeholders to play their roles well by putting the right structures in place to encourage the youths to take the right steps in harnessing human resources and avoid acts that are inimical to their progress and the reputation of the country.

Mr. Egbe also called on the officers of the Nigerian peace corp to live an exemplary lifestyle for the growth and unity of the nation.

In a remark, the Deputy Commandant Admin of the Corp, Dr. Newton Okolo emphasised that youths have a lot to contribute in ensuring a peaceful atmosphere in the country and urged the participants to take the training seriously.

Declaring the training open, the commandant General Nigerian peace Corp, NPC, Dr Mustapha Abubakar said the NPC was committed to equipping its officers and men with skills to mediate and resolve Conflict to complement government’s efforts
in search of a way to promote peace among the citizens.

Dr. Abubakar revealed that no fewer than three thousands officers of the corp drawn from the thirty-six states of the federation and the FCT attended training.

 

Two of the participants Edna Ene from Nasarawa state Command and Abubakar Nurudeen from Bauchi state Command who Commended the Commandant General for the gesture promised to imbibe the training, so as to enthrone sustainable peace in the country.
