At the heart of this endeavor lies the meticulously crafted roundabout edifice, standing as a testament to the Rotary Club of Gbagada’s unwavering dedication to community betterment. This edifice stands alongside a series of impactful initiatives aimed at raising the living standards of Gbagada’s residents.

Speaking eloquently at the unveiling was Mrs. Olubunmi Oguntade, the President of the Rotary Club of Gbagada. With passion and conviction, she shared, “We are the Rotary Club of Gbagada, and we firmly believe that charity should commence at home. Year after year, we extend our helping hand to the General Hospital of Gbagada.

However, during one of our visits, we witnessed the neglect that had befallen the island, marred by unsightly debris. A thought ignited within us why not transform this space into something beautiful? As we embarked on this journey, our goals expanded beyond aesthetics. Safety was a concern; accidents were frequent due to inadequate construction.

Thus, we embraced this project not solely to enhance the island’s beauty but also to ensure its functionality. We envisioned road signs guiding travellers and the provision of solar lighting to illuminate the place and its surrounding streets during the night. After all, Gbagada is our home, and this project embodies our commitment to its well-being.”

Another voice echoing gratitude and optimism during the event was that of a respected community member, Mrs. Josephine Eyeshemito. As someone conducting business in the immediate vicinity of the project, Mrs. Eyeshemito affirmed, “The roundabout is where I conduct my business.

This project is a welcomed one. It has bestowed newfound beauty upon our surroundings. It serves as a testament to the tangible influence that the Rotary Club International brings to this area. Before this beautification effort, the place was marred by filth and disorder. Witnessing various items thrown about overnight was disheartening, particularly given its significance as a bustling junction within our community.

However, since the completion of this transformative endeavor, an aura of beauty has embraced every corner. Our collective spirits are uplifted, and we find immense joy in knowing that the Rotary Club International has played a role in enhancing our environment. Their contribution fills us with pride and gratitude.”

However, the Rotary Club has set its sights on yet another impactful endeavor as they prepare to launch an upcoming project through their prestigious award and fundraising event. This new initiative aims to revitalize and enhance the pediatric ward within the Gbagada General Hospital.

Revealing this future undertaking, President Mrs. Oguntade announced, “Looking ahead to the near future, specifically on October 1st, we are gearing up for a fundraising event dedicated to the Gbagada General Hospital. Our focus will be on the pediatric ward, a space that was originally constructed by our very own club.

Recognizing the importance of nurturing the environment for our young patients, we have decided that the time is ripe for a comprehensive remodeling and rejuvenation effort. The journey toward this transformation is already underway.

In the imminent moments, we will be initiating the groundbreaking phase. With unwavering determination and the support of our community, we are optimistic that the resources needed for this revitalization will be realized.

Our goal is to infuse life into the ward, imbuing it with an aura of positivity and hope that resonates not only within the walls but also throughout the Gbagada community.”
