EKO HOT BLOG reports that these allegations were raised by an online publication, which claimed that the EFCC was involved in sharing the forfeited assets.

In a statement issued by the EFCC’s spokesperson, Dele Oyewale, the agency described the allegations as entirely false and baseless.

Oyewale clarified that the idea of “sharing” forfeited assets is completely foreign to the EFCC’s procedures and emphasized that the report was rooted in ignorance and malice.

Oyewale further explained that the EFCC operates under strict legal frameworks, specifically the EFCC Act of 2004 and the Proceeds of Crime (Recovery and Management) Act of 2022.

These laws clearly dictate how forfeited assets are to be handled, with no provisions for any form of distribution or sharing among officials or other individuals.

He urged the public to disregard the misleading report, which he argued was designed to tarnish the agency’s reputation.
