EKO HOT BLOG reports that Senator Shehu Sani has voiced his concerns over the future of the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, after President Muhammadu Buhari leaves office.
Shehu Sani likened Emefiele’s position to that of a “zebra in the hands of tigers” when Buhari steps down on May 29th.
In a statement shared on his verified Twitter handle, Sani predicted that Emefiele would be helpless against those who fought the apex bank’s Naira redesign policy, including President-elect Bola Tinubu and his supporters in the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The Supreme Court nullified the Naira redesign policy on Friday, ending the controversy surrounding the matter. However, Sani fears that Emefiele may not be protected when Buhari leaves office, leaving him vulnerable to those who opposed the policy.
Sani’s comments have generated mixed reactions on social media, with some Nigerians expressing their support for his views while others have dismissed them as baseless.
It remains to be seen what the future holds for Emefiele and the CBN after Buhari’s tenure ends.
“When Baba is gone, Emefiele will be like Zebra in the hands of Tigers,” he tweeted.
