Eko Hot Blog reports that Former Manchester City defender, Benjamin Mendy, has been found not guilty of rape and attempted rape by a unanimous verdict from the jury at Chester Crown Court.
Mendy had faced one count of rape in October 2020 and one count of attempted rape in October 2018, both of which he has now been cleared of.
Earlier this year, Mendy was also acquitted of eight additional charges during his original trial, which concluded in January.
The 28-year-old, who won the World Cup with France in 2018, is no longer a Manchester City player as his contract expired this summer.
Mendy made headlines when he joined Manchester City in 2017 for a then-record transfer fee of £56 million, making him the most expensive Premier League defender at the time.
The police investigation into the allegations against him began nearly two and a half years ago.
With the conclusion of the legal proceedings, Mendy can now focus on the next chapter of his career, while the verdict brings closure to a highly publicized case that has garnered significant attention in the footballing world.
