Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola, 53, and his wife Cristina Serra have decided to separate after nearly 10 years of marriage.
The couple, who married in a private ceremony near Barcelona in 2014, had been living apart for over five years.

Serra moved back to Barcelona with their youngest daughter, Valentina, 17, while Guardiola stayed in Manchester. They also have two older children, Maria, 24, and Marius, 22.
The Spanish newspaper Sport first reported their split, which was finalized in December. Only close family and friends knew about it, and they were asked not to share any details.
Despite the separation, Guardiola and Serra remain on good terms and have been seen together at events, including the Champions League final in June 2023, where Guardiola led City to victory, and Wimbledon in July.
Serra, a Brazilian journalist and writer, left Manchester in 2019 to manage her family’s fashion business, Serra Claret, which sells many of the brands Guardiola often wears. Guardiola regularly visits Barcelona to see his family and has spoken fondly of Serra, especially praising her sense of style. In early 2024, he described her as “the best in the world at many things.”
The couple met in 1994 when Guardiola was modeling for designer Antonio Miro. They began a long-distance relationship during Guardiola’s playing days, later settling in Barcelona before moving to Germany when he became Bayern Munich’s manager. They eventually moved to Manchester when Guardiola joined City in 2016.
According to Sport, their split is amicable, and they maintain a friendly relationship.
However, Guardiola has seemed under pressure recently, appearing irritated during press conferences and showing visible stress during matches. During a Champions League game against Feyenoord, he was seen scratching his face, later joking that he “wanted to hurt himself.”
Guardiola has had an illustrious career, leading Barcelona to success, managing Bayern Munich, and achieving a historic Treble with Manchester City in 2023. He also guided City to a record fourth consecutive Premier League title last season. In November, he signed a two-year contract extension with City, keeping him at the club until 2027.
This season, however, City is struggling. They are sixth in the Premier League, 12 points behind Liverpool, and risk failing to qualify for the Champions League knockout
stages.
