Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike has reacted to the brutal killing of another Port Harcourt young man by SARS operatives in the state, Ekohotblog reports..
Ekohotblog.com recalled that a 20-year-old man identified as Daniel Chibuike was shot by police officers attached to De Topic supermarket at the Elelenwo area of Port Harcourt on Saturday evening.
According to a source who confirmed the death, it all started after Chibuike, and his friend, Reuben were accosted by the operatives of the Special Ant-Robbery Squad, SARS.
The late singer and Reuben, however, took to their heels upon sighting the SARS operative, who in turn chased them, screaming that they were thieves.
Our reporter learned that the duo ran towards the busy market in Elelenwo community.
While they were running for safety, some mobile police (MOPOL) officer intercepted them on hearing the Sars operative screaming thieves and shot Chibuike thrice.
According to sources, the duo where coming out of Reuben’s house when the SARS operatives began chasing them.
Chibuike died right in front of the super market after the police officers refused his friends from taking him to the hospital despite his plea.
It was gathered that the Ruben was later transferred to the State Criminal Investigative Deparment from the Miniokoro police station while the police officers involved were also detained by the state police command.
Reacting to the gruesome killing perpetuate by the officer of the law, the Governor, Nyesom Wike called for the dissolution of SARS.
He expressed his anger via his official Twitter account, calling the officers a menace to the society, and their acts unacceptable.
