EKO HOT BLOG reports that traffic came to a standstill in Turkey’s Bosphorus on Tuesday, causing disruption and delays, all due to an unexpected turn of events.
Reports surfaced, indicating that a bulk carrier encountered engine failure at the southern entrance of the strait, which serves as a vital maritime route through Istanbul.
The vessel in question, identified as the Liberian-flagged bulk carrier Alexis, reportedly experienced the malfunction around 5 a.m. (0200 GMT), triggering a flurry of responses from maritime authorities and shipping agents alike.
Among the measures taken was dispatching vessels to the area, swiftly mobilizing for a potential salvage operation to address the situation and alleviate the congestion brought about by the unforeseen incident.
