Eko Hot Blog reports that, while receiving the award at the 20th International Civil Engineering Conference of the Institution, themed: “Sustainable Civil Infrastructure Development in a Challenging Economy”, held at the Podium International Events, Ikeja, the governor reiterated his administration’s commitment towards providing efficient and sustainable infrastructure to meet growing demands.
Sanwo-Olu, represented at the event by his Special Adviser on Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Aramide Adeyoye, said the projected increase in the number of vehicles and the subsequent rise in traffic volumes are responsible for issues of traffic congestion and road infrastructural pressure.
In his words: “The achievement of the present administration in infrastructure is as a result of the combination of ingenious thinking and genuine desire to change the face of infrastructure. My administration would continue to leverage technology to transform the State’s economy while easing impediments for businesses to flourish”.
Sanwo-Olu averred that due to the increase in road construction across the State and the need to improve efficiency and lower its impact on the environment, the State Government is embracing the use of innovative materials and methods in the construction sector, including automation and machine control.
Earlier in his welcome address, the National Chairman of the Institution, Engr. (Dr.) Jang Tanko congratulated Governor Sanwo-Olu on the award, stressing that the Lagos State Government, under his leadership, has embarked on many infrastructure developments across the State.
Engr. Tanko assured that the institution will continue to strive to create enabling regulatory environment for the growth of the practice of engineering in the country.
