EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Football Association (FA) has launched an investigation into an altercation between staff members of Arsenal and Aston Villa during Arsenal’s 4-2 victory over Villa at Villa Park on Saturday.
The incident in question involved Arsenal analyst Miguel Molina and Villa’s Victor Manas in the stoppage time of the game.
Reports suggest that Manas, who previously worked at Arsenal during Unai Emery’s tenure, was unhappy with Molina’s celebrations in the press box after Jorginho’s shot bounced off Emi Martinez’s head, giving Arsenal a 3-2 lead.
The situation eventually escalated, and stewards were forced to intervene to calm things down. Molina later left the media area, although sources deny that he was ejected.
The FA confirmed on Monday that they are looking into the incident and will take appropriate action if necessary. The altercation has caused a stir among fans, with many taking to social media to express their opinions on the matter.
In a post-match press conference, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was asked about the incident but claimed he had not spoken to Molina about it. He said that the club would look at the matter and take action if required, as they do with any incidents that occur in the stands.
The FA’s investigation is ongoing, and it is not yet clear what action, if any, they will take against either club or staff member.
However, the incident has served as a reminder of the need for professionalism and decorum in the sporting world and has once again highlighted the intense emotions that can sometimes arise in competitive environments.
