Ekohotblog reports that the English Premier League beast awakens from its international break slumber to serve up a full round of fixtures across the country this weekend.

Cristiano Ronaldo has propelled the early charge of Manchester United so far, with whispers growing that the presence of the Portuguese legend is papering over the cracks of a threadbare midfield.

Either way, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are within spitting distance of the top of the EPL table as they go to spluttering Leicester on Saturday, with the Foxes four games without a win.

Early leaders Chelsea were the only side in the top six to win last time out.

The Blues are the latest top-flight club to test their mettle at promoted Brentford, who lie in wait in the Saturday evening kick-off just down the road in west London.

The nearest challengers to Thomas Tuchel’s men are Liverpool, piloted by his fellow German coach Jurgen Klopp.

They bring the curtain back up on the English top-flight on Saturday lunchtime when they travel to Vicarage Road to face Watford, whose trigger-happy owners have just given 70-year-old boss Claudio Ranieri his latest bash at Premier League football.

Reigning champions Manchester City have an all-north west affair at the Etihad Stadium in their sights, with ailing Burnley the visitors.

There’s even a West Midlands derby to pique the interest at Villa Park, as Dean Smith’s Aston Villa play host to improving Wolves, who have won three of their last four.

The Monday night EPL match isn’t short of intrigue either, as Arsenal face a London derby with Crystal Palace and a reunion with club legend Patrick Vieira, who knows a win for the Eagles would put them above his former employers.

Sunday sees the Gunners’ arch-rivals Tottenham make the long haul up to St James’ Park to play newly-minted Newcastle, fresh from their controversial Saudi takeover.

They play after European contenders Everton and West Ham collide at Goodison Park.

Ex-Toffees chief David Moyes could use a win, too, with his Hammers in a rough run of form to leave them ninth in the standings coming into the weekend.

Elsewhere on Saturday, there’s a scramble in the lower reaches when Southampton host Leeds, with Marcelo Bielsa’s visitors picking up their first win of the season before the international break to sneak above the relegation zone.

Graham Potter’s Brighton, meanwhile, could storm the top four if they pick up the three points from their trip to rock-bottom Norwich.
