The election was held during the 2024 Enugu State PDP Congress at Okpara Square on Saturday. Chukwunwike’s appointment was uncontested, as confirmed by Dr. Tony Iyoha, chairman of the state PDP Congress Committee.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Iyoha announced the results of the newly elected State Executive Committee, officially naming Chukwunwike as the state chairman.
Chukwunwike, who has previously served as Commissioner in the State Executive Council three times—2003-2007, 2007-2011, and 2023—takes on this new role with a strong background in state governance.
In his declaration, Iyoha said, “By the authority vested in me as the chairman of the electoral committee for the Enugu State PDP Congress, I hereby declare you as the duly elected PDP State Executive Committee.”
Iyoha praised the administration of Governor Peter Mbah for maintaining unity within the party despite the challenges following the 2023 general elections.
He remarked, “We appreciate the Enugu State government for keeping the PDP family united. The Congress has been smooth and without issues, thanks to the efforts of Governor Dr. Peter Mbah.”
